Google Android??What this is??

In July 2005, Google acquired Android, a startup based in Palo Alto Small, CA. Android co-founders who went to work at Google included Andy Rubin (co-founder of Danger), Rich Miner (co-founder of Wildfire), Nick Sears (once Vice President at T-Mobile), and Chris White (the One of the first engineers at WebTV). At the time, little was known about the functions of Android other than they made software for mobile phones. This began rumors that Google was planning to enter the market of mobile telephony, but it was not clear at what function they could play in this market.

At Google, the team led by Rubin, has developed a Linux-based mobile OS which they were responsible for marketing the handset and the carriers on the principle of providing a flexible and scalable. It was reported that Google had already lined up a series of hardware and software partners and signaled to carriers that it was open to varying degrees of cooperation from them.

In November 2007, Google announced the introduction of the Android platform and the Open Handset Alliance, a group of hardware, software and telecommunications companies that agreed to participate in the development and distribution platform as Android.
